Publisher Description

Fire Safe is for the engineer who services portable fire extinguishers. It keeps the record of the site, not just the certificate at the end of the visit.

THE SITE REGISTER
Every extinguisher on a site in one list, with the date its next service falls due. Monthly visual, annual service, the five-year extended service and the ten-year overhaul are worked out from BS 5306-3 and the unit type, so the list sorts itself by what is due first. Open a site before a visit and the work is already in front of you.

SCAN THE UNIT
Each extinguisher can carry a QR or NFC tag. Hold the phone to it and its record opens: the commissioning date, the last service, who carried it out, and what was found. Fire Safe lays the tags out on an Avery L7159 sheet, 24 to a page, for any office printer.

Point the camera at a manufacturer's label and Fire Safe reads the make, model and rating off it. That happens on the phone; the image is not sent anywhere.

WHAT THE SITE IS SHORT OF
Enter a room's floor area and Fire Safe works out the class A cover required by BS 5306-8, then states the gap plainly: 26A required, 13A fitted, one more 9-litre water unit. Hazards and special risks are recorded alongside it. The shortfall is a quote you can leave on the day.

THE SIX DOCUMENTS
- Commissioning Certificate
- Service Certificate
- Asset Register
- Corrective Action Notice
- Monthly Visual Inspection Record
- Fire Safety Log Book

Every one prints as a proper A4 PDF, ready to email or hand over. The Corrective Action Notice is written from what you recorded, so a failed unit leaves the building with the fault in writing.

FIRE BLANKETS AND HOSE REELS
Blankets to BS EN 1869 and hose reels to BS EN 671-3 sit in the same register, with their own check lists and their own due dates.

THE STANDARDS, ON YOUR PHONE
Reference articles drawn from BS 5306-3, BS 5306-8, BS EN 3-7, BS EN 1869 and BS EN 671-3, and they work offline.

YOUR WORK, BACKED UP
The register syncs through your own iCloud account across your iPhone and iPad. Backups write to iCloud Drive, and restoring merges what is in the backup with what is already on the device rather than overwriting it.

MINT BOOKS
Completed visits can raise a draft invoice in Mint Books, priced per unit serviced.

UPGRADING FROM AN EARLIER VERSION
Your saved reports are brought across automatically on first launch.

Fire Safe is one of the iCertifi family of certification apps for UK trades.

Version History • Certificate numbers now include a short code for this device and are never reused, so no two jobs can share a number in Mint Books.
• Your saved technician signature now goes on new certificates, visits and notices for you.
• Site reminders still arrive when one unit on the site is already overdue.
• Only finished visits are sent to Mint Books automatically.
• Sites and tags can be opened from Home without a subscription.
• A "What's new" screen after each update.
• Contact Support now fills in your app, device and iOS version for you. 3.3.1 Sep 30 Emails go straight to the customer
When you email a certificate, the Responsible Person's email address is now filled in for you.

Pass all remaining units in one tap
At the bottom of the Units list, "Pass all remaining" passes every unit you have not recorded yet, with every check ticked. It asks first, and units you have already recorded keep their results.

Record the weight
Enter the measured and stamped mass for each extinguisher. Anything outside 5% is flagged, the mass check is failed for you, and both figures print on the certificate.

Photos
Add a photo of each unit, and a photo of any defect you find. Photos sync to your other devices through iCloud and are included in your backups.

Open defects for every site
Each site now lists the defects still waiting to be put right, most urgent first. A defect clears itself when a later visit passes the unit or it is replaced, or you can close it with a note. Open defects are copied onto the next visit's certificate.

Replacing a unit
Choose Replaced and Fire Safe asks for the new unit's details, filled in from the old one. When you sign the visit off, the old unit is kept in the register as Replaced with its history, and the new unit starts its own service dates.

Spreadsheets
Export a site's register as a spreadsheet, or import units from a spreadsheet when you take over a site from another company. You choose which column is which before anything is added.

Also fixed: the bottom of a long Units list can now be scrolled clear of the buttons. 3.3 Sep 24 What's New

• Marking a service visit complete now sets each extinguisher's next service date, so scanning its tag shows it as in date.
• Extinguishers marked condemned or missing on a visit are now taken out of service on the register.
• Visits you have already marked complete are updated automatically the next time you open the app.
• General fixes and improvements. 3.2.1 Sep 16 Fire Safe 3.2

Fixes and improvements including

You can edit and remove units again. Swipe a unit on a report to correct its details or take it off the visit. On a site's register, swipe to delete a unit you added by mistake, or retire one that's been serviced — retired units now sit in a "No longer in service" section so you can find them and put them back.

Long lists work properly. Adding more than about eleven units no longer stops you scrolling to the bottom of the list.

Litres are back. Choose kilograms or litres for any unit, and the app suggests the right one from the medium — so a 6 L water finally prints as 6 L.

The report says what you need. The next service due date is back on every unit and on the front of the certificate, and the schedule no longer clutters the page with the year of manufacture and the fire rating. Both still appear on the extinguisher register.

Pick, don't type. Medium, make, mounting and body material are scrolling lists again, with free text still there if your unit isn't listed.

Your scheme logo. Add your BAFE, FIA or IFEDA mark in Contractor Details and it prints on every certificate. 3.2 Sep 8 Tags anyone can read.

Tags: a status page on every extinguisher.

Put a tag on an extinguisher and anyone can check it with their phone. The building's responsible person, a fire officer, an auditor or your client holds a phone to the sticker, or points the camera at the QR label, and a web page opens: what the unit is, when you last serviced it, when it is next due, the last monthly check, and how to reach you. They need nothing installed and no account. You get fewer "when was this last done?" calls, a visible record on the wall, and your business name on every unit you look after.

How to tag a unit
1. Open the site and tap Tag units.
2. NFC: stick an on-metal NFC sticker (NTAG213 or larger) on the body of the extinguisher, tap the unit in the list, then hold the top of your iPhone against the sticker. That is it; the sticker is written.
3. Labels: tap the unit to give it a QR code, then print the site's label sheet on Avery L7159 stock and stick one on each unit. Every phone can read a QR, so a label suits units where NFC will not read.
4. Pre-coded stickers: stick one on, tap "Scan a pre-coded sticker to link it", and pick the unit.

What happens next
• The page goes live as soon as the unit is tagged and updates itself every time you sign off a visit. It shows the information from your register and nothing more: your client's name and the site address are never published, only the location text you type for the unit.
• Tag units shows every unit's tag state: published, waiting for signal, or needs your attention.
• Scanning a tag yourself (Home, then Scan) opens the unit's record straight away, the fastest way to find a unit on a large site.
• Replaced a unit? Re-tag it with a fresh code from its form, and the old sticker's page says it is no longer in use.
• Stickers written by Fire Safe 3.0 opened the unit in the app only. Tap one and Fire Safe offers to update it so any phone can read it.
• Where to buy stickers and how to test one: Tag units, then "Where to buy stickers".
• Publishing pages is part of the Fire Safe subscription. Tagging, scanning and printing labels work without it.

Also in 3.1
• Mint Books: previewing a certificate while you are still editing no longer creates a draft invoice, and site registers and log books are never invoiced.
• Fixes: a unit's Tag row could go blank after a change; the Backup screen's re-import row was hard to read in dark mode. 3.1 Sep 8 Fire Safe has been rebuilt around the site.

THE REGISTER

Version History Emails go straight to the customer

3.3 1d ago What's New
